Memorial Weekend

I hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend. We could not have asked for a better one. The weather was great and we had a lot of fun.

On Saturday, Chad prepared the garden for planting. The boys had fun helping in the garden.

Carter tried to make himself into a Scare Crow to stand in the garden....

Chad also brought the boat home and the boys helped him clean it up, and get the poles ready to do some fishing.

Later that day, we grilled on the charcoal grill and made S'mores for our dessert. I caught Carter still roasting marshmellows after the dessert part was done....

He was a mess.....his face, shirt, and hands were full of gooey marshmellows.

After church on Sunday, we headed to Independence to have lunch with Grandma Deb, Grandpa Ken, and Great-Grandpa Ed. We brought the Gator, along with Carter's bike, and the boys had fun riding around Grandpa Ed's yard. We even went for a walk to the park, and ended up walking to the river for the boys to get a little wet.

On Monday, we took the boat out on Lake Eau Galle and did some fishing.

Bradley is getting tired on the boat...

Don't fall asleep, Bradley........

We didn't have very good luck with fishing, but we had fun trying. The boys had a couple nibbles, and we have only one fish to claim. I have to say, it was my catch, but it was with Carter's fishing pole, so I let him reel it in. I let the boys claim the fish.

That one fish brought a lot of excitement to our boat.....

The only other catch we had was a big clam. As I pulled up the anchor, there was a great big clam that sat on top of it.

The boys played outside all afternoon and lounged around on the hammock that Grandpa Ken and Grandma Deb gave to them.

What a great way to end the day. I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and the great weather that went along with it.
As we enjoy this three-day weekend, remember the importance of this day, as it commemorates the men and women who have died while in the military service.
Have a great week everyone!
