Sweet Moments with my Mom

Lord Help Me

“The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.” Matthew 15:25
A life lived well requires help from the Lord. Life is like a ship on the open sea: we navigate through calm waters, rough waters, uncertain waters and beautiful waters—but all the time trusting its Creator. The source of our strength must be Christ, or we grow chronically tired. Faith in the Lord triumphs over fear and frustration—this especially is true when someone we love suffers severely and all we can do is lift them up to Jesus.

Indeed, His help happens to those who kneel in humble dependency and cry out to Jesus, “Lord help me!” When the body writhes in pain, we cry for help. When a critical word crushes our spirit, we cry for help. When unanswered questions stalk our minds, we cry for help. When relational conflict emaciates our emotions, we cry for help. Help from heaven gives hope, healing and the energy to push through tough times and trust Him.

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him” (Psalm 28:7).

His help gives joy where laughter has left. His help gives confidence in the middle of crisis. His help forgives when hurt has severed another’s trust. His help harnesses grace and bridles a toxic tongue. His help reaches to the poorest of the poor, the richest of the rich and everyone in between—with His saving grace in Jesus Christ. His help helps.

How can Jesus help you? Do you need wisdom? Ask Him with a humble heart and He will hear and answer your request. His response may come in the form of godly friends who give you wise advice—so look around and listen intently—for the Lord speaks through those who truly love you. Jesus helps those who humbly seek out and trust wise counsel.

“When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; by paying attention to the wise they get knowledge” (Proverbs 21:11).

Furthermore, who do you know that needs the Lord’s help? Have you, on bended knee, petitioned Jesus on their behalf? Be bold for their sakes and for the glory of God. Go to Jesus so someone can get to Jesus in healing and forgiveness. Be an advocate for others, as some don’t know what they don’t know—ignorance requires bold belief on its behalf.

“May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day” (2 Timothy 1:18a).

No Place Like Home

No Place Like Home
"Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?" John 14:1-2 (NLT)
My daughter Morgan was moving into her first apartment. We had spent the summer shopping for everything she would need, but even after the necessities were purchased, her list of wants and perceived "needs" continued to grow.
Pretty artwork and picture frames. Lamps and decorative rugs. Soft blankets for the couch. Not basic necessities for everyday living, but Morgan's way of trying to create a home: somewhere she felt loved and secure.
Don't we all long for a place to call home? Jesus knew this same desire rested in the hearts of His followers. They had left everything to be with Him, and their longing for home was real. In John 14:1-2, Jesus told His disciples that He would soon be leaving the earth. Jesus knew they were concerned, and He wanted to ease their worries while giving them strength to carry on.
As a comfort, Jesus reassured His disciples they would see Him again at "home." He said, "Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?" (John 14:2)
Jesus was referring to Heaven, an eternal home prepared for us after this life. In Heaven, there is room for everyone and all are invited to live there. But not everyone accepts this invitation or knows how to accept it. In fact, even the disciples were perplexed about what Jesus was telling them.
To help them understand this promise of His Father's house and how they could join Him there, Jesus explained in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me" (NLT).
Many try to work their way ... buy their way ... or rationalize their way into Heaven. But Jesus is the only way. We must willingly accept the invitation Jesus extends to make Him Lord of our lives so we may one day live in His Father's home.
Countless people have accepted that invitation. Yet many others haven't. Whether we've done so or not, everyone has a longing for the safe haven of Heaven. This desire is talked about in Ecclesiastes 3:11b, "He has also set eternity in the human heart" (NIV).
God created us with an innate yearning for our heavenly home. And while that longing will not be filled with anything on earth, it will be satisfied in Heaven. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we receive His invitation to spend eternity with Him and have our desire for home be complete in Him.
This home in Heaven will be filled with the presence of God, overflowing with love, peace and rest. A place where sorrow and suffering doesn't exist. Joy will be experienced like never before.
My daughter wanted her home to feel special; many of us do. But no matter how many cozy throw pillows and lovely curtains we add, our house here on earth will never really satisfy our desire for "home." Nor can it compare to the magnificence of our heavenly home.
Perhaps that longing for something more ... for "home" ... resonates within your heart. A place where you are welcomed and loved. The wonderful news is your heavenly home has been prepared for you. By surrendering your heart to Jesus and obeying Scripture, you accept your invitation to a home where you'll be overjoyed to spend time forever.
Jesus, my heart yearns to experience the comfort, peace and eternal joy in the heavenly home prepared for me. Ready my heart to accept Your invitation of eternal life. I want You to dwell in my heart now, and I long to live with You in Heaven. Amen.

Thinking about Treyton

We are thinking about Treyton Kilar's family and lifting them up in prayer.....

I remember the evening that our family heard about Treyton's accident on the news. School had just started and we heard it on the evening news after dinner. I remember so vividly feeling this deep sadness for Treyton's mom, as I was thinking about my own boys at the time; and thinking about the pain of ever losing one of my boys. I was thinking about how much it would shatter my life if I lost Carter or Bradley.  I couldn't imagine the pain that Trey's mom was going through. That night, I held my boys extra close and gave them extra hugs before bed.  Carter and I prayed together for their family. I felt such a deep sadness for the loss of their son. I remember going to bed that night and I couldn't get it out of my head. It was heavy on my heart for quite some time and we continued to pray for their family. Two months later, Carter was killed in our car accident. And I had still remembered Treyton. So now I pray for both our families and think about Treyton and Carter in heaven together.

Please pray for God's loving comfort over this family.

A sweet, sweet boy......

Treyton Michael Kilar

Kilar, Treyton Michael Our perfect little "Angel Boy", Treyton Michael Kilar was sent to heaven after a terrible car crash on September 2, 2010. Treyton was just 6 years old and attended Lisa Kotz's first grade class at St. John the Baptist Catholic School. Treyton is survived by his adoring family who love and miss him beyond what words can express. Our hearts are bleeding. He is survived by his beautiful and loving sisters; Brittany Hallberg-Kilar (17), Rosie Jaskolski-Kilar (15), and Kindyl Eiline Kilar (5), who are the best sisters anyone could have. "Trey Trey's" daddy Mike Kilar and mommy Mary Kilar are the most blessed parents who were so honored to call him "son". He was perfect, and we are devastated. He is further survived by loving family and dear friends who love him beyond words. His sweet and loving Grandparents; Eileen and Richard Jaskolski of Sussex, Pauline and Tom Kilar of Loves Park IL. Uncles; Joseph (Donna) Jaskolski of NJ, Mark Jaskolski and Rose Doornbosch of Milwaukee, Aunt; Karen Kingston of Arlington Heights IL. Great Aunties and uncles; Linda Benzschawel, Darlene Maternowski, Stan and Candy Jaskolski, and Ron and Jeanne Jaskolski. His dear God parents; Auntie Karen Maternowski and Uncle Steve Benzschawel and cousins; Mike, (Brenda), Dan, Lizzy, Michelle, Sara, Whitney, Christopher, Emma, Sam, Eliana, Craig (Alissa), and Curt (Kelly). He was loved by his extended family and friends; the Alexanders, Hammonds, Gunninks, Schnellers, Cobb-Muellers, Nelsons, Starks, Rutledges, Bourkes, Kopeckys, and Gosh Family, especially his "big brother" Nick, and so many more friends and family. Treyton was a boy unlike any other. His smile, joy for living, and kind heart taught us all how to truly live. He loved baseball, the Milwaukee Brewers, fishing, swimming, gardening, his school, his teachers, and all his friends. His love was unbelievable. He is gone too soon, taken by a senseless act, it is true. He taught us there will be no hatred. For God made him so perfect and perfection is back Home now. He will never be forgotten, for his memory will live on in all the hearts of his family and friends whom he loves so much. We will keep his spirit of selflessness, love, and kindness alive. Please come pray and celebrate what God has blessed us with, our little Angel boy. Visitation Tuesday 2:00-8:00 PM September 7, and Wednesday (TODAY), September 8, 2010 from 10:00 AM -12:00 Noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Jefferson. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Noon on Wednesday September 8, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Richard Cerpich and Rev. Thomas Coyle officiating. Memorials may be made in Treyton's name to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or School, or to any program dedicated to preventing drunk driving. A special thank you to everyone at Waukesha Memorial Hospital~you were beyond compassionate in your care for our entire family as we grieved our son and began to heal our broken family. Rejoice in the Lord always

How do we find joy in our lives?  Too often it comes at a significant price.  You learn you are mortal, and suddenly what used to seem important isn't.  Things that used to bother you don't anymore because they have become insignificant.  What then becomes significant are the people who you love and who love you.

When you know your time is limited, every moment becomes precious.  You step out the door, and a flower brings you joy because it may be the last flower you ever see.  Time becomes a gift, not a burden, because you choose to spend it with the things and people you love and stop doing the things that are meaningless.  You wear whatever you like and stop worrying so much about what others think.  When you appreciate the now, weather becomes fascinating instead of a problem.

Be in awe of the beauty of creation.  But more importantly, be in awe of the One who created it.

"But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them sing joyful praises forever.  Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy."  Psalm 5:11
